 Career Education at Concord High School aims to increase students awareness, understanding and confidence in planning for a positive future that includes further study and employment. We aim to equip students with the ability to assess opportunities and challenges in a society of continual change and uncertainty.
Individual career counselling is available to senior students on request, with a formal program of interviews in Yr 12.
The Careers Centre - at the top of the library - houses:
* Careers Adviser's office
* references for student research
* take - away resources
* study space
Year 9
The Careers Adviser works individually with students who are at risk of leaving school early. This program involves assessment, interviews and Work Experience.
Year 10
The Careers Adviser teaches Career Education lessons to Year 10 five periods per week over one term. Content includes:
* self awareness
* knowledge of education and employment issues
* career research and exploration
* decision making
* employment seeking activities
* and 1 week of Work Experience
Years 11 and 12
Optional seminars are run at lunchtimes and lesson times to help students with university and TAFE selection, application procedures, scholarships etc. Interviews are scheduled for all Yr 12 students and are also available on request.
