Young people: Finding their way in a new era - Policy forum

How well do young people make the transition between school to further study or work? Past research has shown that young people fare less well during economic downturns. In light of the current economic climate, this policy forum aims to explore how best to prepare young Australians aged 15 to 24 years for the road ahead.

Drawing on current research, this event seeks to inform policy-makers about the lives of young people, with a focus on improving education outcomes, providing skills for the contemporary labour market, and social engagement.

Who should attend?
Those with an interest in youth transitions research and policy from government, the not-for-profit sector, all education sectors, careers advisors, peak youth bodies and the social and community sectors.

An apprenticeship provides a pathway to an interesting and lucrative career and builds a good foundation should you wish to go on to further study. Many of our newly qualified electricians and plumbers earn salaries of $80,000 or more on completion of their course – and double that if they work overseas! CIT is currently offering pre-apprenticeship programs in both electrotechnology and plumbing. You can complete these programs by attending CIT for one day a week (8am to 5pm). Electrotechnology classes start in the week beginning July 20 at our Bruce Campus and Plumbing classes start in the week beginning July 27 at the Fyshwick Trade Skills Centre.
