Indigenous Teaching Education Experience Day.

UNE helping to close the gap for Indigenous teachers

The Indigenous Teacher Education Experience Project (ITEEP) aims to increase the number of Aboriginal teachers in rural NSW schools, and further build community, school, and university partnerships.

One strategy to assist in ‘closing the gap’ is through a targeted Indigenous Teaching Education Experience Day.
The Experience Day will be hosted by UNE in July 2009 (date to be set). It is thought that about 120 year 10-12 students and Aboriginal Teacher Assistants will attend the day. Participants will be drawn from State, Catholic, Independent, and TAFE sectors, and will be involved in a series of workshops and key note presentations within a range of the curriculum key learning areas. Sessions will also cover admission processes, the sharing of Indigenous educators’ stories, and available support networks.
