FYA's Education Foundation Division has recently launched Australia’s first national study of how young people view success at school. A national online survey, called Tell Us: Are you more than your marks?, invites all Australian secondary students to express their views on what success in school really means. Following the launch of the Federal Government’s My School website two weeks ago, Tell Us has set the ambitious goal of adding 50,000 student voices to the debate on school achievement. At FYA we believe success in school means more than just proficiency in numeracy or literacy. Young people tell us it means creativity, confidence, community involvement, caring for others, and developing a love of learning. We think that by amplifying the voice of young people, Tell Us will broaden perceptions about the meaning of school success and you can all help us achieve this. By logging onto www.tellus.org.au, students can complete a short survey, and go into the draw to win some exciting prizes, including iPod touches, pocket cameras and education and learning opportunities. Students can also get creative and speak up using video, text or photography. Tell Us is open from now until Friday 30 April. ![]() ![]() FREE PRE APPRENTICESHIP COURSE IN FOOD & BEV Training will be held at Petersham RSL ~ 2 weeks Course Starting on the 15th FEB Register with Ashlea on 1300 657 925 For More information in regards to the Course Please Contact me on 02 9791 6844 or email: romy@alliancepeople.com.au www.alliancepeople.com.au ![]() A stocktake of Australian Government initiatives for young people. http://www.youth.gov.au/Documents/InvestingInYoungPeople.pdf ![]() ![]() My Guide My Guide 2.0, released in January, has a new information architecture, enhanced navigation features, image based activities and a Career Plan that helps in goal setting and tracking of career progress. Funded by an Australian Government Initiative, the residential convention is packed with workshops and activities covering topics such as marketing, resources, business planning, intellectual property and sustainability. The Invention Convention aims to provide delegates with the skills to further develop and commercialise their innovative product or service. Delegates spend time with successful Australian inventors and entrepreneurs who share their real-life experiences of what it takes to develop an idea from concept to the market place. It's not all hard work though! Delegates visit major Canberra attractions in the evening such as Questacon and the CSIRO Discovery Centre. At the end of the week a gala dinner is held to recognise the hard work of all participants during the convention. Special guests involved in previous conventions include James O'Loughlin, Bernie Hobbs and James Bradfield Moody from ABC1's The New Inventors.
