The program is coordinated by Nura Gili and is sponsored by UBS who generously cover the costs for all participants. During Winter School, 150 students are introduced to tertiary studies in an area of their choice whilst also participating in university life with fellow Indigenous students from around the country. The Winter School aims to assist students in identifying their paths of interest, in turn clarifying the subject areas required for further study in that field. The oneweek program will combine expertise from the faculty, university and industry for an all round comprehensive and unique experience. The program also aims to nurture the leadership, growth and development of all participants with a comprehensive, fun and engaging program of activities. The 2012 Winter School will be held from Sunday 1st July to Saturday 7th July 2012 inclusive. The program is held on the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Kensington Campus in Sydney. It provides a once in a lifetime 'one year work experience' program in the Navy or Army rather than a 'career' for life. The Air Force Gap Year is currently not available. The life skills and job training that you will acquire during your Gap Year experience will be valuable regardless of what career you ultimately undertake. You could earn more than $50,000 over the 12 month period for your Gap Year. The Gap Year program for Navy starts in July 2012 with regular intakes in most months until June 2013. Army has its first intake in November 2012 with further intakes until April 2013.
