Nura Gili Indigenous Winter School

The UNSW Winter School is a fully supervised, weeklong residential program designed to provide Indigenous students in years 10, 11 and 12 with an opportunity to experience university life.
The program is coordinated by Nura Gili and is sponsored by UBS who generously cover the costs for all participants.
During Winter School, 150 students are introduced to tertiary studies in an area of their choice whilst also participating in university life with fellow Indigenous students from around the country.
The Winter School aims to assist students in identifying their paths of interest, in turn clarifying the subject areas required for further study in that field. The oneweek program will combine expertise from the faculty, university and industry for an all round comprehensive and unique experience. The program also aims to nurture the leadership, growth and development of all participants with a comprehensive, fun and engaging program of activities.
The 2012 Winter School will be held from Sunday 1st July to Saturday 7th July 2012 inclusive.
The program is held on the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Kensington Campus in Sydney.

Annual Youth Week Expo Call for Performers, ACT
The Youth Coalition is calling for young people aged between 12 25 years to perform at the Annual Youth Week Expo.
The Expo will be held on Friday 13 April 2012 in Garema Place from 3 7pm.
Performances could include anything from acting, singing, dancing, juggling, etc, or could be a demonstration.

CSIRO Work Experience Program 2012

The CSIRO is offering work experience placements to students from Years 10 to 12 who are interested in science. The program aims to give students the opportunity to experience the real world of work by seeing how things get done and how things work, gain relevant experience and skills that may be helpful in gaining future employment as well as gaining an understanding of how creativity and innovation help business growth.

Australian Defence Force Gap Year
The Australian Defence Force Gap Year program provides an opportunity for young Australians, who have finished year 12 (or equivalent) within the previous two years, to experience continuous military training and lifestyle before going on to study or a selected career. It provides a once in a lifetime 'one year work experience' program in the Navy or Army rather than a 'career' for life. The Air Force Gap Year is currently not available.
The life skills and job training that you will acquire during your Gap Year experience will be valuable regardless of what career you ultimately undertake.
You could earn more than $50,000 over the 12 month period for your Gap Year.
The Gap Year program for Navy starts in July 2012 with regular intakes in most months until June 2013. Army has its first intake in November 2012 with further intakes until April 2013.
By registering your interest you will be provided with updates closer to the opening of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) Gap Year for 2012/2013.

Discover Engineering Day
The Discover Engineering Day program presents an opportunity for students to be exposed to engineering as an industry and as a profession. The day consists of hands on engineering activities, presentations from student and professional engineers. It is a fun an interactive day where students can learn about what a career in engineering is all about.
Students will also be given the opportunity to meet with the engineering faculties from some of the Sydney's big universities and gain a great insight into what their future might hold as an ENGINEER.
The next Discover Engineering Day will be held at Caringbah High School on Thursday 22 March, 2012.

UTS Women in Engineering and IT Hands on Day
Our program for schools in 2012 will be making links for students between the experience of engineering studies, practice and research, and providing information on specific fields, courses and scholarships for school leavers.
For 2012 we are offering two Hands on Days:

Year 10 on Friday 17 August 2012 8:30am - 3:15pm, Tower Building - UTS Broadway
We invite NSW schools to discuss this event with their relevant departments (Science/Maths/Technology/HSIE) and take advantage of the opportunity to register up to 20 students from these cohorts for both Hands on Days.
We especially welcome students of diverse backgrounds, areas of interest and aptitudes, as well as those with aptitude in Maths and Sciences.
Previous Hands on Days have engaged many students with the prospects of engineering and IT as a choice of study and career. It is also a great opportunity for high school students to network with current engineering and IT students and hear from industry professionals, as they gain insights into university life.
