The Youth Off The Streets Scholarship Program gives young people throughout Australia the opportunity to make their dreams a reality. In 2012 over 20 young people will be provided with scholarships of $5,000 each. Scholarship funds can be used to pay for educational course fees and also for support costs such as equipment, uniform, textbooks and stationery to ensure that the scholarship recipients have every possible opportunity to reach their goals. Applicants who participate in the pre apprenticeship will attend Ryde TAFE for 3 days a week and on the job work based experienced 2 days a week in 4 different establishments. Applicants will be supplied with a tool kit and chef uniform for use whilst at TAFE and work based training. The students will need to supply their own safety shoes and all other expenses will be paid for by WPC Group. Two types of scholarships are available: 1. The ParaQuad NSW Scholarships - established to assist people with a spinal cord injury in education costs up to $5,000 2. The ParaQuad NSW – Golden Stave Foundation Scholarships, established through the generosity of The Golden Stave Foundation to assist young people with a spinal cord injury in education to assist with career aspects. The intent of the scholarship program is to award potential applicants who live in NSW and the ACT attending school, college or pursuing post-secondary trade, technical, or vocational training, an amount of up to $5,000 each as scholarships. The scholarships are aimed at easing the financial burden of obtaining the necessary education to secure future employment and independence. This program is an opportunity to make a positive difference for young Australians living with a spinal cord injury as well as their families.
