Bachelor of Nursing in Sydney in 2 Years

Since 2006, the UTAS School of Nursing and Midwifery has offered the highly regarded Bachelor of Nursing in partnership with St Vincents and Mater Health, Sydney.

'A unique partnership'
This partnership is the culmination of a unique partnership and shared vision that students need a quality education and, at the same time, a sense of belonging in health care agencies where they undertake clinical practice.

For this reason, UTAS teaches the entire course at SV&MHS. This approach allows for industry based learning to be carried out at a centre of excellence that covers a wide spectrum of health care provision in both public and private sectors.

'Six semesters over two years'
The course is unique in New South Wales. It runs for six semesters over two years to enable students to accelerate their nursing degrees. Two summer semesters are utilised for study. In this way, we can offer what is normally a three year program over two years.

Teaching is delivered by highly qualified academic staff supported by experienced, practicing clinicians.

The University of Wollongong - Bachelor of Journalism

The University of Wollongong now has a fully equipped newsroom to provide hands-on skills for students in the new Bachelor of Journalism program.

Forty students are enrolled in the new course, run by the School of Journalism and Creative Writing.

UOW has been teaching journalism since 1990 when it opened a Graduate School of Journalism offering a Master of Journalism degree. This was followed by a Bachelor of Communications and Media Studies, where students were able to study a small number of journalism subjects.

However, with the introduction of the Bachelor of Journalism degree, the suite of subjects has been broadened and refocused to give the students more hands-on skills. The newsroom is integral to the course, and each year the undergraduate students will spend at least one full day a week working there.

Depending on their year, they will be writing stories, sub-editing or involved in layout and design.
