Charles Hawker Scholarships 2011

The Charles Hawker Scholarships, valued at up to $60,000.00 over four years, are the most generous privately funded scholarships available to undergraduate and postgraduate students in Australia. Since 1991 the Charles Allan Seymour Hawker Scholarship Trust Fund has awarded approximatley 3.75 million dollars to 90 young Australians.

These Scholarships are available to any Australian student undertaking a three or four year course of study approved by the Trustees. Undergraduate students who have commenced their studies are also eligible to apply for the scholarship. Successful applicants must study at one of the following nominated Australian universities or colleges.

* Australian National University - ACT
* Flinders University of South Australia - SA
* University of Adelaide (including Roseworthy Campus) - SA
* Roseworthy Residential College
* University of New England - NSW
* University of South Australia - SA
* Marcus Oldham College - VIC
* University of Cambridge - UK

BHP Billiton Scholarships for Residents of Gunnedah and Liverpool Plains Shires

BHP Billiton has reopened a new round of University Scholarships for the 4th year running. Residents of Gunnedah and Liverpool Plains Shires who will have completed Year 12 this year or are currently having a gap year, are again invited to apply for a University Scholarship through the BHP Billiton Caroona Coal Project Scholarship Program.

The scholarships provide financial support of $8,000 per year for up to 4 years as well as assistance in finding vacation work experience and career mentoring as their studies advance.

Six scholarships will be made available for students wishing to pursue a career in the mining industry in fields such as Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, Commerce, IT, Human Resources, Occupational Health and Safety and Accounting.

Applications close on Monday 13th September 2010.

Occupational Health and Safety Course

New England Institute of TAFE will be conducting OH & S courses on behalf of Work Cover NSW.
The courses will be conducted at Farrer MAHS at the time we receive payment from 20 students to fill a class. The courses will be run during Term 3 in normal school hours to be arranged in accordance with the instructor and the school. It is anticipated that approximately 3-4 classes will be conducted, but classes will only be conducted on the payment being received in full from 20 students.

Cost- $70
When- ASAP (Classes will only be run on receiving 20 full payments)
Where- Farrer MAHS


This course is mandatory for any person required to
work, visit or attend construction sites, including work
experience.

Learners who successfully complete the course will
achieve the WorkCover NSW White Card.

It is encouraged that students wanting to do work experience in construction sites or pursue a career in the construction industry complete this course as it is a requirement of the employer to ensure they fullfill their legal requirements of WorkCover NSW.

To avoid missing out in this year ensure your boy pays the $70 and registers him name for the next course. Please note the school is subsidising the cost of the course
